Lucky for us, Suffolk booked us a spa day at the Hammam Baños Árabes at 9:15am. The Hammam de Al Andalus have locations in Granada, Córdoba, Málaga, Toledo and Madrid. The one in Granada was located in the Albaicín quarter behind a church. The boys and girls separated to get changed into our bathing suits and then we entered the baths. As I explained in my Córdoba blog, there are three rooms to the Arab bath: Sala templada, sala caliente, and sala frío (room temperature, hot, and cold). You enter each room/pool in that order which is good for stimulating your circulation. You really have to bear the cold one and immerse yourself in the ice bath for at least a minute to feel the tingles upon entering the room temperature pool again. There was also a room with hot rocks you lay on and that was one of the most relaxing things ever, especially with the soft Arabic/Andalusí music playing (my favorite!). I felt like a goddess. We were then called one by one for a 15 minute massage. Man, was I in heaven!!! Thank you Suffolk!! I truly recommend taking the time to pamper yourself for a few hours at one of the Hammams. Prices range from 25 euro up, depending on what you want included. You can check out their website for more information here.
